Fall 07 Updates

As many will have noticed the construction of the SCS Complex is well under way. You can keep track of the construction via the Web Cams. Also Derek Wahila has been taking some excellent photos.

What you see under construction now (Fall 2007) are the foundations and walls of the garage. In late fall the rest of the foundations will start going in, and in mid to late winter (Feb/March 2007) steel will start going up. The current estimated for completion is Summer 2009. Here is the schedule:

In May 2007 the board of trustees approved the final budget of $97 Million for the project. Out of that about $72Million is for construction, including the garage and all landscaping. The Guaranteed Maximum Price contract (GMP) for construction was signed with PJ Dick in August. The budget is a 10% increase over the original budget of $88.7Million and the increase is largely due to increased costs of concrete and steel and the desire not to give up any of the key goals.

We are still on track for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification and possible Gold certification.
